Yamaha CFX & Bösendorfer Imperial piano samples

Two of the world’s finest concert grand pianos are at your fingertips. The Yamaha CFX is the finest 9-foot concert grand piano, selected and played by the winner of the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition. The Imperial from Bösendorfer has been held in high esteem by pianists throughout the brand’s long history. These renowned pianos are characterized by their distinctive power, versatility, and subtlety.

Binaural Sampling

Binaural sampling allows for an incredible sound to be heard through headphones. This is a highly sophisticated recording technique, in which a special combination of microphones are used: two microphones are actually installed into the ears of a model of a human head, so that the sound reproduced is from the pianist’s perspective.

GrandTouch Keyboard

Built on a Legacy of Concert Grand Piano Craftsmanship

Grand Piano keyboards are characterized by a light feel when played gently, and a heavier feel when played with more strength. Conversely, a non-grand piano keyboard has a uniform resistance regardless of whether the player uses a gentle or heavy touch. This has traditionally been one of the most significant differences between the touch of a grand piano and that of a digital piano.

However, when developing GrandTouch keyboard action, Yamaha sought to reproduce the true key resistance that is unique to the grand piano, with greater fidelity. The result is an instrument with a more responsive touch, offering a greater dynamic range than ever before. Now you can experience a much more controlled, nuanced sound when playing softly, or powerful, brighter tones when playing with a stronger touch — just like that of a grand piano.

Key Counterweights

Counterweights are embedded in the keys of a grand piano to balance the weight of the hammers and offer more precise control when playing delicately at low volumes. The Clavinova features carefully-adjusted counterweights for improved playability when playing pianissimo with a light touch, and better key return in rapid passages. The keyboard of the Clavinova has been fine-tuned to offer optimal balance, emphasizing its superb playability and grand piano response.

Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM)

In a grand piano, strings and sounds resonate throughout the entire body of the instrument to produce a rich reverberation that envelops the listener in sound. Not only are the strings vibrating as you play, but other strings ring as well, in reaction to ones you play. Some keys strike a different number of strings depending on their position on the keyboard; this explains why the sound of an acoustic piano is so complex and rich.

This experience is reproduced perfectly on select Clavinova models through Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) which calculates the various states of the strings for each of the 88 notes on the keyboard, from one instant to the next. As a result, the Clavinova sound features a seemingly limitless number of elements in common with an acoustic piano.

Key-off Samples

The moment you lift your fingers from the keys of a grand piano, subtle changes occur in the instrument’s tone as the damper is lowered onto the strings to mute the sound. Key-off samples feature actual recordings of these changes, offering a faithful reproduction of the most subtle nuances in the piano’s tone to create a more realistic overall sound.

Bluetooth Audio

Any Bluetooth-enabled device can connect to your Clavinova wirelessly so that you can listen to your music library through the high-quality speaker system of the piano. You can listen to MP3s from your smart phone, or even hear the sound from streaming videos through the Clavinova’s speaker system. Pairing your device with the Clavinova is quick and easy!

Tri-Amp System

A good piano lets you hear every sound within the piece clearly and beautifully. Clavinova’s Tri-Amp System makes this possible by using dedicated amplifiers to drive three separate speaker systems for the three independent frequency ranges. This method can be appreciated by audiophiles and piano purists alike as it ensures that you will hear all the subtle nuances of your performance.

Spruce-cone Speaker System

Drawing from its experience in building both acoustic pianos and high-end speakers, Yamaha uses the same spruce pulp to make the speaker cones they use to make piano sound boards. The result is a more natural, piano-like attack when you play the keys.

303 lesson songs from popular piano methods

Inside the CLP-545 are 303 lesson songs for building piano technique from popular piano methods like Hanon, Bayer, Czerny and Burgmüller. Connect an iPad using the NoteStar app to view the printed score and even turn pages using the pedals. The entire collection of digital sheet music lesson songs is a free download exclusively for CLP-500 series owners. The regular download price of this library is over $60.

Drum Rhythms

Use the on-board drum rhythms for practice or performance. There’s a variety of rhythm patterns to choose, from basic rock to shuffle and swing beats. Use the rhythms to add an element of fun to your practicing, or simply use them as a virtual drummer for your performances.

16-track, 250 song recorder

The recording function featured in Clavinova digital pianos allows you to record your performances with a single touch, which is useful when you want to review or archive your playing. You can record up to 16 tracks for simultaneous playback allowing you to create your own songs using different sounds, or record each hand separately. Store up to 250 of your songs internally.

* Recordings are made in MIDI format, and can also be recorded to USB flash memory. Compatible software is required for playback of recorded data on a computer.

1/8″ AUX input

Use the speakers of your instrument to listen to the audio playback of your portable music player, iOS device, mixer, or computer via the 1/8″ AUX input. Simply connect the output of your device to the AUX line input and turn up the volume. You can use this feature to listen to your favorite tracks, or play along with them since your instrument will still function normally at the same time!

Full Dot LCD Display (Size: 128 x 64 dots)

The new Full Dot LCD Display (128 x 64) adds luxury and ease of use to this generation of digital pianos. This interface gives the user the feedback they desire when making adjustments or selecting features of the instrument.

Smooth Release

Smooth Release technology offers the crisp tone heard when playing staccato as well as the lingering sound produced by releasing the keys slowly. This provides a finely-nuanced response to the pianist’s playing
